Jamarcus Russel, QB raiders

As the raiders have started 0-3, im sure a lot of questions have rised among raiders fans. One being Why have Jamarcus Russell struggling so badly in his 3rd year even though he started all of last year. The pros of J-Russ are that he has the strongest arm in the league, has very good mobility for his size (6-6 , 265 pounds) and at times has a very accurate arm. The cons of J-Russ are The his accuracy is inconsistent, his footwork and technique is always limiting his ability to throw the ball, he to often looks off open receivers just to make the safer dump-off to the RB or TE and he generally does not make good decisions with the ball in his hands.

Atlanta Falcons

The Falcons are throwing the ball more than I expected in the first two weeks. This is great news for Matt Ryan owners. So far the the combination of an added year of maturity, the addition of Tony Gonzalez, the Falcons' willingness to pass and teams loading up to stop Turner after his ridiculous year last year have made Ryan look like a great fantasy player this season. I don't see any reason for him to slow down much as the season goes along. Roddy White has had unspectacular numbers so far, but I still feel like he'll get his numbers by the end of the season. He's a deep threat kind of receiver and so he'll have some big games that will shoot his yardage numbers up (He will not average 8.6 yards per reception the whole year, that's for sure). Tony Gonzalez will steal some red zone looks, but that should be countered by the Falcons' willingness to pass more. White is still leading the Falcons in targets through the first two weeks. For all the talk about his diminished role in Atlanta compared to Kansas City, Tony Gonzalez has put up great numbers and seen plenty of targets. He still might not pass Witten, Gates or Clark, but he has shown he fits squarely in that TE tier 1. Michael Jenkins is the only other receiver seeing multiple targets each game, but his average of 36 yards a game so far will continue to stay the same all season. And I don't expect many end zone looks with red zone weapons like Gonzo, Turner and White on the team.As for Michael Turner, nothing in the first two weeks suggests he'll be any different this season than I expected him to be. He'll put up strong numbers against bad run defenses (Carolina, Week 2) and poor numbers against good run defenses (Miami, Week 1). He'll be towards the top in the NFL in carries (50, tied for 1st in NFL). And he won't be involved in the passing game (1 reception, 5 yards). The week to week inconsistency can be maddening, and he's one of the only 1st round picks that I would consider benching if the match ups dictated it. But he'll get his carries, get his touchdowns, win you some weeks throughout the season and be towards the top of the fantasy totals at the end of the season. These are the reasons why I still had him ranked as a first round pick, but not as high as most people. As for behind him on the depth chart, he doesn't have to worry about Norwood stealing any carries. It looks like Norwood will have the same role as he did last year, a change of pace back who will get a good amount of receptions, but not a significant amount of carries or many, if any, red zone looks.

RB Pierre Thomas, Saints

On the last sunday of the preseason, Saints RB Pierre Thomas who gained almost 1,000 total yards last year in the saints pass hevy offence injured his knee, and announced that he would might not play in week one vs. the detroit lions, which rises the question for all fantasy owners of pierre thomas,"is he worth starting this season".
The pros of pierre thomas are that not only does he have rushing value but also great receiving ability, as last year he had almost 400 yards receiving. Also he has a nose for the Endzone, last year he 9 rushing TDs and another 3 receiving TDs, and those numbers should easily increse this year. The negatives would be That reggie bush will steal carries from him and he has a history of injuries and starts this year with a shacky knee.
